Poetry

After many weeks of researching and writing about dinosaurs, my kindergarteners were ready to start the poetry component for our non-fiction alphabet book.  Here again, we used our 5th grade helpers. 

If you will remember, I modeled the Hadrosaurus research and writing using my document reader and smartboard.  We reviewed the information learned to start our I Poem.  We used that information to fill out the following worksheet.

I then demonstrated how to type up our poem.  Finally, each child, with 5th grade partner, started to work.  Each child’s poem is published in Our Alphabet Dinosaur Book.  You may view this book on another tab on my blog.   I have uploaded a few poems under this tab for you to view as well.
